Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shimla, June 08 :Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said in the capital Shimla on Saturday that the Himachal Pradesh government has significantly increased the prize money for medal winners in various international competitions.

CM Sukhu said that the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the prize money for gold medal winners in Olympics, Winter Olympics and Paralympic competitions from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore.The CM also said that the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the prize money for silver medal winners in Olympics, Winter Olympics and Paralympic competitions from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore.Apart from this, he said that the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the prize money for bronze medal winners in Olympics, Winter Olympics and Paralympic competitions from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.

CM Sukhu said that the prize money for gold medal winners in Asian Games and Para Asian Games has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 4 crore by the Himachal Pradesh government.He said that the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the prize money for silver medal winners in Asian Games and Para Asian Games from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2.50 crore.He also said that the Himachal Pradesh government has increased the prize money for bronze medal winners in Asian Games and Para Asian Games from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1.50 crore.

CM Sukhu said that the players who won medals in Commonwealth Games and Para Commonwealth Games will also be given the benefit of the revised award scheme by the Himachal Pradesh government.

The CM said that reflecting the complete commitment of the Himachal Pradesh government to promote sports activities in the state, the prize money for gold medal winners has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 3 crore, silver medal winners from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2 crore and bronze medal winners from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

CM Sukhu said that the main objective of the new sports policy of the Himachal Pradesh government is to promote sports excellence in the state and encourage the youth towards sports.

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the increase in the prize money for the winners of medals in various competitions reflects the commitment of the Himachal Pradesh government to promote sports activities in the state and encourage the hard work of the players representing the state at the international level.

The CM said that the new initiative will not only boost the morale of the players towards sports but will also provide more opportunities to talented players to excel in sports which will contribute to the overall development of sports in Himachal Pradesh.
