Know the history of Maa Bhangayani Temple –

Bhangayani Mata Temple is located in Giripar area of Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh. Maa Bhangayani Devi is known as the most powerful goddess of Sirmour district. Bhangayani Mata Temple is located in a small town called Haripurdhar, about 100 kilometers from Nahan, the district headquarters of Sirmour. Haripur Fort was built by Maharaja Hari Prakash of Sirmour state during the princely state. Goddess Maa Bhangayani, who removes sorrows, is present in physical form at a distance of about 2 kilometers from the town.

It is believed that just by taking the name of this Shakti Swarupa Devi, one gets the desired results and the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled. There is a rush of devotees here on the days of Navratri and Sankranti. The lush green dense forests of banyan, deodar and burans around the Haripurdhar road enhance the beauty of the temple. In the summer season, the panoramic view of trees laden with red Burans flowers gives a unique pleasure. The high snow covered peaks and flowing waterfalls of Churdhar in the east provide a heavenly feeling.

Know the story of origin of Mata Bhangayani –

The history of Maa Bhangayani temple is linked to Chudeshwar Mahadev (Chudhar). History tells that with the help of blessings of Mata Bhangayani, Shirgul Mahadev was saved from the captivity of a Mughal king. After this incident, Chudeshwar Mahadev considered Mata Bhangayani as his religious sister and said that whoever comes on his journey, his journey will be considered incomplete without your darshan. Maa Bhangayani Temple is situated in the foothills of Shivalik range in Haripurdhar which is situated on the border of Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh. This temple is situated at an altitude of 8000 feet above sea level.

It is also believed that according to the Sirmour State Gazetteer, there was a tall stone at the place of the temple of Bhangayani Devi. Where the cowherds of Dasankana village and Tikri village used to go to graze cows and goats. Out of curiosity, the cowherds broke the stone, but when they went the next day, they were surprised to see that the broken stone was in its first state. People were surprised to see a repeat of the incident of the first day on the second day also. Then the Goddess appeared to the people in their dreams and said that I am seated in this stone, build my temple here and I will protect your lineage. After which a temple was built here, whose priests were Bhats. The idol of Mata is made of stone and is not dressed. Mata Bhangayani Devi is also known as the Mother of Dharas.

People from far and wide reach here to have darshan of Mata Bhangayani. Goddess’s help is taken in settling land disputes, mutual faults and disputes. Mother is revered far and wide because of her immense power and immediate punishment. If for some reason the Mother Goddess becomes angry, then one has to immediately take refuge in Shirgul Devta to appease her and remove the blame.
