Reported & Written By Kumud Sharma, Diary Times, Shillai(Sirmour), March 12: A dead body has been recovered floating in the Himachal Pradesh-Uttarakhand dividing borders. Tiuni police of Uttarakhand had received information that a dead body was visible in the Tons River. After receiving the information, the team reached the spot and found that the dead body was floating in the middle of the Tons river.

HDRF and local police pulled out the body from the river after a lot of effort. The dead body appeared to be old. Inquiries were started in the surrounding areas for the purpose of identification. The body was brought to Tiuni.

The body was identified as 65-year-old Khanturam son of Godu Ram, resident of Khadog Nerwa in Shimla district. The deceased person was missing since 21 February 2024.

Prima facie it appears that the deceased has committed suicide by jumping into the Tons river. At present, the police have not recovered any suicide note from the incident site and surrounding areas. Tiuni police has sent the body to Vikas Nagar for post-mortem.
