In this connection, Shimla Police has registered a case against Congress rebel and father of expelled Gagret MLA Chaitanya Sharma and independent MLA from Hamirpur Ashish Sharma. An FIR has been registered against both of them at Baluganj Police Station in Shimla.

Apart from this, other unknown people have also been named in the FIR. Various criminal sections have been imposed against the accused. Shimla Police has taken this action on the complaint of two Congress MLAs Sanjay Awasthi and Bhuvneshwar Gaur. According to the FIR lodged by the complainant, the rebel MLA father Rakesh Sharma and the independent MLA have been accused of vote-buying, bribery and money transactions in the Rajya Sabha elections.

The rebel MLA father Rakesh Sharma and an independent MLA are also accused of wrongly influencing the Rajya Sabha elections. The complainants have also alleged that the accused conspired to topple the government. The complainants have also demanded an investigation of their bank accounts. Rakesh Sharma, father of expelled Gagret MLA Chaitanya Sharma, has retired from the post of Chief Secretary in Uttarakhand.

BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan defeated veteran Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. In fact, even after cross voting, the candidates of both the parties got 34-34 votes, after which the winning candidate was decided through slip system.

The six Congress MLAs remained absent during the passage of the budget in the Himachal Assembly the day after the Rajya Sabha elections. On this, Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has issued orders to disqualify him. Rebel Congress MLAs have approached the Supreme Court against this decision.
