The strategic Manali-Leh road has been restored to traffic after 25 hours of continuous efforts due to the overturning of a truck loaded with heavy goods at Baralacha Pass on the Manali-Leh road.

Manali – After 25 continuous hours of hard work, 136 vehicles stuck in Sarchu on Leh have been freed from both sides and 270 vehicles have been released from Leh after about 48 hours.

These trucks also included trucks carrying essential goods for the army deployed on the border, which were dispatched as soon as the route was restored.

Manali-Leh road: On Wednesday evening, a truck loaded with heavy goods overturned on the Manali-Leh National Highway near Baralacha Pass, due to which the traffic system was completely disrupted due to the heavy truck. All vehicles were also stuck on both sides of the Manali-Leh national highway. An Army truck going towards Leh carrying essential items of the Indian Army also got stuck.

On Thursday, a crane was sent by Kullu district administration to remove the heavy overturned truck, but the heavy truck could not be removed easily. Due to continuous closure of Manali-Leh road, all the stranded vehicles were stopped at Darcha and Sarchu as a precautionary measure. SP Keylong Mayank Chaudhary told Diary Times correspondent Kumud Sharma that the Manali-Leh road has been restored by the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
