Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has urged the Central Government to release the pending amount of about Rs 316 crore under the Disaster Fund soon.

The Chief Minister said in Shimla that this amount has been stuck for the last few years. Under the Disaster Response Fund, about one hundred and seventy two crore rupees are for the year 2021 and about one hundred and thirty four crore rupees for the year 2021.

Similarly, an amount of Rs.61 crore to the State Disaster Response Fund is pending for the year 2019. The Chief Minister said that the delay was due to the objections raised by the Auditor General and the state government has successfully resolved these objections.

He said that after the disposal of objections, the central government should release this amount immediately so that the state government can make good use of this amount to deal with natural calamities in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government intends to spend this amount on the relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by natural calamities. He expressed hope that the Central Government will cooperate in this challenging time.
