Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni arrives in Delhi for 3-day visit

Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni arrived in New Delhi on Monday on a three-day visit to India. The Cambodian King was received at the airport by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi informed about his arrival through his Twitter handle. He tweeted, “His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia arrives in New Delhi on his first State Visit to India. Warmly welcomed by MoS @RanjanRajkuma11. An opportunity to further deepen civilizational ties between India and Cambodia.”

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release that the visit of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni to India is the culmination of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This visit of the King of Cambodia is happening after almost six decades.

“The State Visit marks the culmination of the 70th anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between India and Cambodia, which were established in 1952. The visit of the King of Cambodia is taking place after almost six decades, the last visit between India and Cambodia is the father of the present King in 1963,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in the press release.

The Cambodian King will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 30. President Draupadi Murmu will host a state banquet in honor of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni the same evening.
