As part of India’s presidency of the G20, the 4th edition of the Space Economy Leaders’ Meeting will begin today, 6 July 2023, in Bengaluru. The two-day meeting will discuss space economy, responsibilities of space agencies and nexus of space missions.

As part of India’s presidency of the G20, the 4th edition of the Space Economy Leaders’ Meeting will begin today, 6 July 2023, in Bengaluru. The two-day meeting will discuss space economy, responsibilities of space agencies and nexus of space missions.

What is the purpose of the meeting?

The objective of the meeting is to improve the share of space economy in the global economy. For this round table meeting of heads of space agencies, panel discussions, bilateral meetings and a plenary session will be held today.

Who will attend the opening ceremony?

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, ISRO Chairman Somnath S, IN-SPACe Chairman Dr. Pawan Goenka, G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant will be present at the inauguration ceremony today.

Cultural programs will also be organized

NITI Aayog member Dr VK Saraswat, Indian Space Association President Jayant Patil, International Astronautical Federation President Clayton Mowry, Radio Communications Bureau chief Mario Mnisiewicz and OECD Space Forum chief Claire Jolly will be speakers during the plenary session. Cultural programs representing the culture and tradition of India will also be organized for the foreign dignitaries.

Space activities and capabilities of space industries will be showcased

An exhibition showcasing India’s space activities and capabilities of space industries will be organized on the occasion. On the second day, the delegates will also be taken for sightseeing. The delegates will visit HAL to see the work on alloy structures and tankages being made for satellite launch vehicles and spacecraft. He will also visit private industries contributing to the Indian space programme.
