Ram Mandir Donation Row: Himachal Congress to Launch Statewide Protests, Targets BJP Over Silence
The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has announced plans to hold block-level protests across the state over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Mandir, intensifying its attack on the BJP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) has announced plans to hold block-level protests across the state over the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Mandir, intensifying its attack on the BJP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
The decision was taken during the Congress party’s two-day organisational meeting held in Shimla, where leaders discussed key political and organisational issues. Addressing the media on Sunday, HPCC General Secretary Vinod Zinta said the party would take the matter directly to the people through a statewide campaign.
According to Zinta, devotees had donated their hard-earned money to the temple with faith and devotion, and the alleged disappearance of these funds has deeply affected public and religious sentiments.
“People contributed to the temple with immense trust and reverence. The alleged theft has hurt devotees emotionally, and we will raise questions over the BJP’s silence on this issue during our protests,” he said.
Congress Begins Election Preparations in Himachal
The meeting also focused on preparations for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled next year. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu revealed that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to visit the state multiple times over the next three months.
The Congress leadership is preparing a series of public rallies across Himachal Pradesh, which are likely to serve as the party’s early campaign outreach ahead of the elections.
Rajni Patil Reviews Party Organisation
On the final day of the meeting, AICC in-charge for Himachal Pradesh Rajni Patil conducted separate review sessions with various frontal organisations and departments, including the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI, Kisan Congress, Seva Dal, Scheduled Caste Department and Minority Department.
Patil stressed the importance of these units in strengthening the party at the grassroots level and warned against complacency in organisational functioning.
She instructed party leaders to constitute executive committees of all frontal organisations at the earliest, giving preference to active workers capable of dedicating sufficient time to organisational responsibilities.
Patil also called for closer coordination between office-bearers and the HPCC leadership to ensure the effective implementation of party directives.
HPCC Connect Centre Goes Operational
Another key development during the meeting was the launch of the HPCC Connect Centre, which became operational on Sunday. Rajni Patil described the initiative as the party’s “third eye”, aimed at monitoring organisational activities and programmes across Himachal Pradesh in real time.
The Congress leadership believes the platform will improve communication, accountability and coordination within the organisation as it gears up for the crucial electoral battle in the state.
