Shortly after her arrival, Japan’s Cabinet Public Relations Office shared a message on social media platform X, saying, “Our heartfelt thanks for your warm welcome. We are very much excited to be visiting India!”
The visit comes at a crucial time when both nations are seeking to deepen cooperation amid changing geopolitical dynamics and growing economic opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh welcomed Prime Minister Takaichi at Palam Technical Airport in New Delhi on behalf of the Government of India.
Sharing details of the visit, Singh stated that the Japanese Prime Minister’s engagements include participation in the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit, which is expected to focus on strategic, economic, and regional priorities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended a warm welcome to his Japanese counterpart, describing her visit as an important milestone in further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
“A very warm welcome to India, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. We are delighted to host you on your first visit to India and I look forward to our wide-ranging discussions that will further deepen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership,” Prime Minister Modi said in a message posted on X.
He added that India and Japan would continue working together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
Prime Minister Takaichi emphasized that cooperation between India and Japan has become increasingly significant amid rising global uncertainties.
“The importance of collaboration with India, which shares fundamental values and strategic interests with Japan, is only increasing,” she said.
According to Takaichi, the visit will focus on three major priorities: strengthening strategic cooperation, enhancing economic security, and encouraging greater collaboration between businesses from both countries in areas such as investment and innovation.
She also highlighted the need for stronger engagement between governments and private enterprises to unlock new opportunities for growth and technological advancement.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to India, scheduled from July 1 to July 3, is expected to provide fresh momentum to the India-Japan relationship, particularly in sectors including trade, technology, supply chains, infrastructure development, and regional security.
