In a major boost to sports infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, the state government is preparing to inaugurate a world-class indoor stadium in Nadaun this year. Built at an estimated cost of ₹125 crore, the modern sports complex is expected to provide athletes with international-level training facilities and create new opportunities for emerging talent across the state.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced this during his interaction with trainees, young athletes, and children at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre of Excellence in Anu, Hamirpur. He emphasized that the government remains dedicated to strengthening sports infrastructure and providing every possible support to help athletes achieve excellence at both national and international platforms.

The upcoming indoor stadium in Nadaun will be equipped with advanced facilities for 14 different sports, including swimming, badminton, volleyball, and tennis. The project is expected to become a major center for sports training in Himachal Pradesh, allowing young athletes to prepare with modern resources and professional infrastructure.

During the interaction, held after the state-level International Yoga Day celebrations, the Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives introduced by the government to encourage athletes. He stated that athletes bringing glory to the country in international competitions are being rewarded with attractive cash incentives.

Under the revised sports incentive policy, Asian Games gold medal winners will receive ₹3 crore, while silver and bronze medalists will receive ₹2 crore and ₹1.5 crore respectively. Similar financial rewards are also being provided to athletes who achieve success in the Olympics and other global sporting events.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government increased the diet allowance for athletes soon after taking office. Along with this, facilities such as air travel and AC-class railway travel have been provided to athletes participating in national and international competitions.

To further improve sports facilities, the government has also allocated sufficient funds for the repair and maintenance of the synthetic track at Anu, ensuring that players receive a better environment for regular training.

Young athletes present at the SAI Centre expressed their excitement over the government’s efforts toward sports development. They appreciated the improved facilities and support schemes, stating that these initiatives would motivate them to perform better and bring greater recognition to Himachal Pradesh.
