In view of the upcoming visit of Droupadi Murmu, the Kangra district administration has imposed a temporary ban on all aero sports and aerial activities in the Palampur and Baijnath subdivisions.

The restrictions will be in place on April 30 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, when the President is scheduled to attend and preside over the 17th convocation ceremony at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University.

What Activities Are Banned?

According to officials, the ban covers a wide range of aerial operations, including:

  • Paragliding
  • Drone flying
  • Hot air ballooning
  • Any other aero sports activities

The order was issued by Kangra Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

Why the Ban Has Been Imposed

Authorities have described the move as a precautionary step to ensure tight security during the high-profile visit. With several ministers, senior officials, and dignitaries expected to attend the event, maintaining strict control over the airspace has become essential.

Officials noted that unregulated aerial activity could pose serious security risks, especially during VVIP movements.

Who Is Exempted?

While the ban applies to the general public and commercial operators, security agencies will still be allowed to use drones and aerial surveillance systems. However, this will require prior approval and coordination with the district administration through the Superintendent of Police, Kangra.

Strict Compliance Advised

The administration has urged all aero sports operators and individuals to follow the order strictly. Violations may lead to legal action.

Part of Standard Security Protocols

Officials emphasized that such temporary restrictions are a routine part of security arrangements during visits by high-ranking dignitaries. The goal is to ensure that the President’s कार्यक्रम proceeds smoothly without any disruption.
