In a recent advisory aimed at streamlining LPG distribution, the Shimla district administration has urged residents to refrain from visiting gas agencies directly to collect LPG cylinders. Officials warned that this practice is disrupting the scheduled supply system and causing unnecessary congestion.
The administration has reassured consumers that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, and supplies will continue as per the pre-defined route charts and delivery mechanisms. Authorities emphasized that home delivery remains the most reliable and organized method for receiving LPG cylinders.
Narender Dhiman, District Controller of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in Shimla, stated that detailed route charts had already been implemented to ensure fair and timely distribution, particularly in rural and remote areas. He also highlighted that additional porterage charges have been officially notified under the LPG (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.
Addressing concerns about supply disruptions, Dhiman explained that ongoing tensions in West Asia have impacted the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, though domestic LPG supply continues without major issues.
However, the administration has observed a growing trend of consumers visiting gas agencies directly, which has led to overcrowding and logistical disruptions. This not only affects the efficiency of distribution but also delays supply to rural and hard-to-reach regions, which are currently being prioritized.
The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate and maintain patience, urging them to rely on the established delivery system instead of crowding gas agencies. Residents facing any inconvenience or having queries have been advised to contact their respective gas agencies or officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
With demand management becoming crucial, authorities stress that public cooperation will play a key role in ensuring smooth LPG distribution across the district.
