Himachal Pradesh Weather : Heavy Snowfall Likely in Himachal from January 22; Orange Alert Issued
After a prolonged dry spell, Himachal Pradesh is set to witness widespread snowfall and rainfall from January 22 onwards, with the Meteorological Department issuing yellow and orange alerts across several districts of the state.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kinnaur, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una and Lahaul-Spiti for January 22, forecasting thunderstorms and lightning at isolated places.
For January 23, the department has issued an orange alert for Kullu, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti, warning of heavy snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. A yellow warning has also been issued for Shimla, Solan, Sirmour, Kangra, Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Una on the same day.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry across the state on January 21, but an intense western disturbance, likely to affect northwest India from the night of January 21, will bring a heavy spell of snow and rain from January 22. The wet weather is expected to continue till January 25.
During the past 24 hours, weather remained mostly dry across the state. Minimum temperatures were largely normal, though 2°C to 3°C below normal at a few places. Maximum temperatures, however, were 2°C to 5°C above normal in many areas.

Una was the hottest location in the state with a maximum temperature of 23.7°C, while Tabo village in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest, recording a minimum temperature of –10°C.
