CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla extend New Year 2026 greetings to people of Himachal Pradesh, highlight development, tourism and Drug-Free Himachal campaign.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of New Year 2026, expressing hope that the year ahead would bring happiness, peace, prosperity and renewed energy to everyone’s lives.
The Chief Minister said the New Year offers an opportunity to move forward with new hopes, fresh resolutions and a positive outlook, and expressed confidence that 2026 would mark a new chapter of development and progress for the state.
Reflecting on the past year, Sukhu said 2025 was marked by natural calamities and multiple challenges, but the people of Himachal stood shoulder to shoulder with the government to overcome every difficulty. He highlighted notable achievements in education, health, agriculture and infrastructure during the year.
He also underlined the widespread public support received by the ‘Drug-Free Himachal’ campaign, calling it a significant step towards building a healthy, safe and secure society. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue working with dedication in the interest of the people and the state.
To promote tourism, Sukhu said several innovative events were launched during the New Year period, including the Kangra Valley Carnival, Shimla Winter Carnival and Dalhousie Winter Fest. He said these initiatives led to a substantial rise in tourist footfall in destinations such as Shimla, Chamba and Dharamshala, providing a boost to the local economy and tourism sector.
Meanwhile, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also extended his warm greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of New Year 2026. He expressed hope that the new year would bring peace, happiness and prosperity to every household, while opening new avenues for development and progress.
The Governor said the New Year symbolises positive thinking, collective resolve and the spirit of building a strong, healthy and inclusive society. He particularly appealed to the youth to uphold the values of discipline, compassion and social responsibility, and to actively contribute towards creating a drug-free, healthy and prosperous Himachal Pradesh.
He prayed for the continued development, harmony and well-being of the state and the nation, and wished that New Year 2026 brings happiness and success to all.
