“Himachal Speaker Urges MLAs to Ensure Smooth Winter Session, Stresses Dignity and Constructive Debate”
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania appealed to both treasury and opposition benches to uphold the dignity and traditions of the House and ensure smooth proceedings during the Winter Session. He emphasized constructive debate, fact-based interventions, and timely government responses.
Just minutes before the Winter Session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly convened, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania called on members from both the ruling party and the opposition to extend constructive cooperation to ensure smooth functioning of the House.
Speaking at a press briefing in the Assembly complex on Tuesday, the Speaker reminded MLAs of the dignity and rich parliamentary traditions of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. He urged them to raise issues concerning their constituencies responsibly and within the framework of established rules.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, he held an all-party meeting in his office. Deputy Chief Whip of the ruling party, Keval Singh Pathania, and BJP Legislative Party Chief Whip, Sukhram Choudhary, attended the meeting.
Pathania stressed the importance of meaningful debate, fact-based interventions, and timely responses from the government on matters raised by members. He assured MLAs that he would make every effort to give ample opportunity to all sides to speak, so that the House’s time can be devoted to productive and substantive discussions.
He also briefed members on the planned conduct of the session and reiterated that adequate time would be allocated for deliberations on issues of public interest.
