Canada’s main stock index opened in positive territory on Wednesday, boosted by an uptick in gold mining stocks and renewed confidence that the U.S. Federal Reserve may soon begin cutting interest rates.
At 9:31 a.m. ET, Toronto’s S&P/TSX Composite Index (.GSPTSE) was up 0.3%, trading at 30,994 points.
