A fire at ADC Mahendra Pal Gurjar’s government residence in Una caused significant damage to the upper floor. Fire officials contained the blaze in time, and early findings suggest an electrical short circuit. No injuries were reported.
A major fire broke out on Friday morning at the government residence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mahendra Pal Gurjar in Una, causing damage worth several lakhs to valuable belongings on the upper floor.
According to initial reports, residents in the area noticed smoke and flames rising from the upper storey, prompting panic as people rushed out of their homes. The fire spread quickly, engulfing a bed, an LED TV, furniture, and other household items kept in the room.
Officials said the fire was brought under control in time, preventing a more serious incident. A team from the Una Fire Department, led by Incharge Ashok Rana, reached the spot immediately after receiving the alert and extinguished the flames before they could spread further.
At the time of the incident, ADC Gurjar was not at home, though his family members were present on the ground floor. No injuries or casualties have been reported.
The ADC said that everything in the upper-floor room was destroyed. Preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. A detailed probe is underway.
