The 150th anniversary of India’s national song ‘Vande Mataram’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, in the esteemed presence of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. The Raj Bhavan premises reverberated with patriotic spirit as officials, staff members, and invited guests joined together in the collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’, expressing deep devotion to the motherland.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Shukla said that ‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song but an eternal symbol of love, reverence, and unwavering devotion to Bharat Mata. He emphasized that the song continues to ignite the flame of nationalism in every Indian heart, inspiring citizens to work tirelessly for the nation’s unity, integrity, and prosperity.
The Governor urged everyone to embody the essence of the national song by fulfilling their duties toward the nation and instilling patriotism and service in future generations. He also paid tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the creator of ‘Vande Mataram’, whose expression of motherland devotion remains timeless and deeply relevant today.
Highlighting India’s strength in diversity and cultural unity, Shukla noted that the song reminds us that the true spirit of India lies in its unity and shared heritage.
The event also featured vibrant performances by students of Buddha Post Graduate College, Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh), whose patriotic songs and cultural presentations further elevated the spirit of the occasion.
Among those present were C.P. Verma, Secretary to the Governor, Prof. Kaustubh Narayan Mishra, Principal of Buddha PG College, and several dignitaries and officials.
