Himachal to Turn ‘Chitta-Free’ Campaign into a Mass Movement, Says CM Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state’s campaign against Chitta will be turned into a mass movement. He chaired a meeting to review preparations for the Anti-Chitta Walkathon in Shimla on November 15, 2025, directing departments to ensure full public participation and vowing to eradicate the drug menace from the state.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that the ongoing campaign against Chitta (a synthetic drug menace) in Himachal Pradesh will be expanded into a statewide mass movement, emphasizing that the active participation of every citizen is vital to its success.
Chairing a review meeting in Shimla to assess preparations for the Anti-Chitta Walkathon, scheduled for November 15, 2025, the Chief Minister said that participants can register by scanning a QR code, ensuring maximum public involvement. The walkathon, which will begin from The Ridge and conclude at Chaura Maidan, will feature a series of awareness activities involving youth, students, and citizens from all walks of life.
CM Sukhu directed concerned departments to ensure that all arrangements are completed on time, adding that the campaign will continue for the next three months as part of a decisive battle against Chitta. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to completely eradicate the drug menace, asserting that no one involved in this trade will be spared.
The Chief Minister further said that after the state-level walkathon, similar events would be organized across districts and sub-divisions, with active participation from Cabinet members, MLAs, and prominent figures from society.
Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari briefed the Chief Minister on the detailed preparations for the walkathon.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Additional Chief Secretaries K.K. Pant and Shyam Bhagat Negi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, OSD Gopal Sharma, and other senior officials attended the meeting in Shimla, while Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from various districts joined virtually.
