Canada’s Carney Says He Apologized to Trump Over Reagan Ad
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Saturday that he had apologized to U.S. President Donald Trump for a political advertisement aimed at Americans that angered the U.S. leader.
The ad, commissioned by Ontario Premier Doug Ford — a vocal Conservative often compared to Trump — featured a clip of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan warning that tariffs lead to trade wars and economic hardship.
In reaction, Trump announced an increase in tariffs on Canadian goods, and Washington has suspended trade talks with Ottawa.
