Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a ‘Run for Unity’ was organized in Shimla by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in line with celebrations held across the country. The event was flagged off by BJP State Co-incharge Sanjay Tandon from CTO Chowk to the Ridge Ground, where participants paid tribute to Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in unifying India.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Tandon highlighted that Sardar Patel’s historic integration of 565 princely states laid the foundation for modern India and continues to inspire the nation. He announced that Run for Unity events will be held in every district from October 31 to November 26 (Constitution Day), encouraging the youth to actively participate in promoting national unity and integrity.

He added that similar runs will be organized daily across a 150-kilometer stretch from Patel’s birthplace to his statue, symbolizing his enduring legacy.

During the event, Tandon also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary, noting that the BJP, unlike the Congress, does not resort to personal attacks on national leaders. “Every leader has played a significant role in strengthening India’s unity and integrity,” he said.

Tandon further expressed confidence that the NDA will form the next government in Bihar, while predicting a major setback for the Congress in the upcoming elections.
