France’s Macron Says Referendum Possible to Resolve Pension Reform Dispute

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that a referendum could be held to resolve the ongoing dispute over pension reform.

The controversial reform, which was pushed through Parliament in 2023 without a vote, was suspended last week by Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu in an effort to gain the support of the Socialist Party and avoid a no-confidence vote.
