Women’s Commission Chief Seeks Report from Solan SP on Rape Case Involving BJP Leader’s Brother

Himachal Pradesh State Commission for Women Chairperson Vidya Negi has sought a detailed report from Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh regarding the rape case filed against Ram Kumar Bindal, the elder brother of State BJP President Rajeev Bindal.
In a video statement, Negi said that as soon as she learned about the alleged rape of a woman from Solan, she immediately contacted the SP and requested a comprehensive report. She also urged the police to ensure justice for the survivor and a fair and impartial investigation.
According to Negi, the SP informed her that Ram Kumar Bindal had been arrested and that the investigation was underway. She said the SP assured her that the case would be handled with complete fairness and transparency.
Negi also appealed to Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and BJP State President Rajeev Bindal to extend full cooperation in the investigation. “The central government promotes the slogan ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter), so both leaders should support a fair probe,” she said, adding that further action would be taken once the police submit their report.
Meanwhile, State Women’s Congress President Zenab Chandel demanded Rajeev Bindal’s resignation as BJP State President on moral grounds, calling for justice for the victim. She said the incident had brought shame to the entire state.
Addressing the media, Chandel questioned the silence of BJP leaders on the matter and asked whether the party would remove Rajeev Bindal from his position given the serious allegations against his brother. She accused the BJP of double standards in dealing with such cases.
