Bindal’s Brother Sent to Five-Day Police Custody in Rape Case
Admitted to Regional Hospital After Complaining of Chest Pain

A Solan court on Saturday remanded Ram Kumar Bindal, elder brother of Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajeev Bindal, to five days of police custody. He was arrested on Friday evening in connection with a rape case.
Later that evening, Ram Kumar was admitted to the regional hospital after he complained of chest pain, though his condition was reported to be stable.
Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said, “A local court on Saturday sent Ram Kumar to five-day police custody. Medical authorities have permitted questioning in his presence at the hospital.”
Denying BJP leaders’ allegations that the case was politically motivated, Singh said, “The arrest was made after two days of collecting substantial evidence. Forensic examination of the site and CCTV footage confirmed that the victim remained at Ram Kumar’s clinic for a significant period.”
He added that although the accused did not see outpatients on Wednesday, he made an exception for the victim and attended to her without any female attendant present. A witness who saw the woman leaving the clinic in tears also corroborated the allegations.
The SP further stated that the patient’s entry in the clinic register had been torn out, but forensic analysis confirmed the victim’s visit. The woman had reportedly come to the clinic alone.
Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders and members of social organizations met Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma at his residence on Saturday, urging him to ensure a fair and transparent investigation.
The delegation included former minister Dr. Rajeev Saizal, former MLAs K.L. Thakur and Paramjeet Singh Pammi, and BJP state vice-president Rashmi Dhar Sood.
They described 82-year-old Ram Kumar Bindal as a respected public figure and maintained that he was innocent, calling for an impartial probe into the case.
