The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts for heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh from October 5 to 7, citing the influence of a western disturbance and high moisture inflow from the Arabian Sea.

According to the IMD, several parts of the state are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall, with isolated areas experiencing very heavy rain or snowfall. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds (40–50 km/h), and hailstorms are also expected during this period.

The fresh spell of rain comes barely a week after the withdrawal of the monsoon, which had already caused extensive damage across the state. Meteorologists attribute this upcoming wet phase to an active western disturbance, coupled with moisture from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, as well as other favorable synoptic conditions.

District-wise forecasts indicate that on October 5, heavy rain or snowfall may occur at isolated places in Una, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Mandi. On October 6, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Lahaul-Spiti are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall or snowfall, while Shimla, Kinnaur, and Sirmaur could also receive heavy precipitation. On October 7, Solan, Sirmaur, and Kangra are likely to see isolated heavy rain.
