Shimla, October 1 – The Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday announced the transfer and fresh postings of three senior IAS officers, including the key decision to assign Sanjay Gupta (IAS, 1988 batch) the additional charge of Chief Secretary. Gupta, who is presently Additional Chief Secretary (Town and Country Planning & Housing), will now hold the dual responsibility with immediate effect.

By handing over this charge to Gupta, the government has relieved Devesh Kumar (IAS, 1998 batch) of these responsibilities. Alongside his current role, Gupta will continue as Additional Chief Secretary while also overseeing the office of the Chief Secretary.

Meanwhile, Omkar Chand Sharma (IAS, 1994 batch) has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary (Tribal Development). He has also been given the additional charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Ltd., Shimla.

Similarly, Kamlesh Kumar Pant (IAS, 1993 batch) has been assigned as Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue). In addition, he will serve as Financial Commissioner (Revenue), Additional Chief Secretary (Forest, Home & Vigilance), Financial Commissioner (Appeals), and Chairman of the State Pollution Control Board.

It is worth noting that earlier, Sanjay Gupta was entrusted with additional responsibilities as Chairman of the State Pollution Control Board and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Ropeways and Rapid Transport System Development Corporation Ltd. This reshuffle comes shortly after the retirement of Prabodh Saxena, who completed his six-month extension as Chief Secretary. The government has now appointed him as Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board for a three-year term.
