EU’s von der Leyen Welcomes Trump’s Gaza Peace Proposal

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday said she welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace proposal aimed at ending nearly two years of war in Gaza.

In a post on X, she wrote: “I welcome President @realDonaldTrump’s commitment to end the war in Gaza. I encourage all parties to seize this opportunity. The European Union stands ready to contribute.”

She added that hostilities must end by providing “immediate humanitarian relief to the people in Gaza and securing the prompt release of all hostages.”
