Awasthi said that instead of providing job security and recognizing the contributions of young employees, the policy adds unnecessary hurdles, leaving them in a state of uncertainty.

Shrey Awasthi, the State Coordinator of the Himachal Pradesh Unemployed Youth Federation, has strongly opposed the state government’s newly introduced policy of “Regularization after two years through a competency test.” In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, he termed this move as a betrayal of the trust of the youth of Himachal Pradesh.

Awasthi pointed out that recruitment in government sectors has already been painfully slow in the state. Over the past three years, youth have repeatedly faced disappointment—either due to the delay in the formation of recruitment commissions or the failure to finalize contracts with private testing agencies. Now, the condition of a second competency test after two years of appointment has further shattered the morale of aspiring youth.

He raised a pertinent question—“Will this policy apply across all categories of government jobs, or is it targeted selectively at Class III employees?”

Awasthi demanded an immediate rollback of this decision. He also issued a stern warning to the government: “If this anti-youth policy is not withdrawn promptly, the youth of the state will be forced to take to the streets in protest.”

This bold stance reflects growing unrest among Himachal’s youth and signals a brewing storm of resistance if timely corrective action is not taken by the government.
