CM Directs District Administration to Remain Alert Amid Heavy Rainfall

Shimla, July 21 – Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today held telephonic conversations with all Deputy Commissioners to assess the situation caused by continuous heavy rainfall across various districts of the state. In view of the prevailing weather conditions, the Chief Minister instructed officials to remain vigilant and ensure all necessary arrangements are in place to handle any potential emergencies.
He urged people to stay away from rivers and streams during the monsoon season, emphasizing that public safety remains the top priority for the state government. The Chief Minister also called on citizens to strictly follow the advisories issued by district authorities from time to time.
He stressed the importance of coordination among departments to ensure a swift and effective response to landslides, blocked roads, and flood-like situations. Additionally, he directed officials to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential services so that the public does not face any inconvenience.
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Sutah Gram Panchayat of Rajnagar, Chamba district, where a newlywed couple lost their lives due to a landslide that destroyed their house. He offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and peace for the departed souls.
