Health Checkups for 500 Disaster-Affected Residents Held in Thunag; All Tests and Medicines Provided Free of Cost
Mandi, July 13:

In the wake of the recent natural disaster in the Seraj region, many families have been left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. While relief materials have now reached most of the affected areas and conditions are gradually stabilizing, health concerns among the displaced population remain a priority.

To address this, a comprehensive free medical camp was organized on Sunday at the Thunag Rest House by Setu Welfare Trust. Over 500 people underwent health checkups during the day. While administrative teams had earlier conducted door-to-door screenings in villages, the need for a centralized medical camp with specialist doctors was long felt — and this initiative filled that gap. Grateful for the assistance, residents expressed heartfelt thanks to the organizers.

Specialist Doctors On Site, All Tests Free of Charge

The camp brought together a team of medical specialists who offered their services throughout the day:

  • Dr. Bandana Jaggi (Gynecologist)

  • Dr. Arun Chandel (Orthopedic Surgeon)

  • Dr. Aksha Kaur (Pediatrician)

  • Dr. Ghanshyam (Dermatologist)

  • Dr. Manjul Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Roshan Bhardwaj, Dr. Manjul Thakur, Dr. Dhriti Gupta, and Dr. Gyan (Internal Medicine)

Their collective efforts ensured that residents received quality consultations, diagnostics, and necessary guidance at no cost.

Members of the Himachal Medical Representatives Union, including Surender Thakur, Rajesh Sharma, Vinod Thakur, Kailash, Vijay, Sachin, Surjeet, Jitender, Kulveer, Bhupender, Ravi, Nitesh, Balram, Aman, Nikhil, Balveer, Ajit, Dimple, and Vijay Patial, supported the camp by managing the lab and pharmacy sections. They also committed to holding similar camps in other affected areas of Seraj and continuing to supply free medicines to those in need.

Dr. Sadhana Thakur Conducts OPD; Jairam Thakur Also Gets Checked

Dr. Sadhana Thakur, wife of former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and a medical professional herself, held an OPD during the camp. She examined patients and advised them on necessary precautions to stay healthy during the monsoon season.

Former CM Jairam Thakur also underwent a health checkup and expressed his deep appreciation to the organizers and medical teams for their service to the affected communities.

The camp was a significant step in ensuring the physical well-being of disaster survivors, reaffirming the importance of coordinated relief efforts that go beyond material aid.
