Mandi, July 13:
After nearly 28 hours of closure, the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has finally reopened, bringing much-needed relief to hundreds of stranded travelers. The highway had been blocked since 2 PM yesterday due to a massive landslide near Char Mile, on the outskirts of Mandi town.

Continuous falling rocks and debris from the hillside had severely hampered restoration efforts. It wasn’t until this morning that debris removal work could begin in earnest, and by 5:30 PM today, traffic was allowed to resume.

Sadar Police Station SHO, Inspector Desh Raj, confirmed that the road has now been cleared for vehicular movement. However, he also cautioned that the risk of falling rocks remains, and police teams are stationed at the site to monitor the situation.

Those stuck in the traffic jam have now been safely evacuated and are continuing their journeys. Whether traffic will be allowed to flow at night will be decided based on evolving conditions.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the area and to proceed only if absolutely essential.
