Mandi, July 9:
Union Health Minister and BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has assured full support from the central government to those affected by the recent natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh. During his visit to the disaster-hit Seraj and Nachan constituencies of Mandi district, Nadda met with affected families and shared their grief. He first visited Syanj in Nachan, followed by Bagsyad and Thunag in Seraj, where he reviewed the situation on the ground.

Speaking to the media in Thunag, Nadda said, “Even during the 2023 disaster, the Centre extended over ₹5,000 crore in aid to Himachal Pradesh. What has happened this time is truly unimaginable. Many have not only lost their homes but also loved ones — it’s heartbreaking. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government stands firmly with every affected family. As a representative of the Centre, I assure you that every possible assistance will be provided during this difficult time.”

State Should Utilize SDRF Funds First

Nadda emphasized that the central government is ready to consider any proposals forwarded by the state government. “There are funds available under SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund); the state should first utilize those resources,” he said.

Centre Has Already Released ₹2,000 Crore Recently

Highlighting the Centre’s continued support, Nadda noted, “During the 2023 disaster, I personally visited the state three times, and each time, aid worth ₹200–300 crore was sent. At that time, a total assistance of ₹3,146 crore was sanctioned immediately.”

He added that recently, following a comprehensive assessment of damages, Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved an additional ₹2,000 crore in relief for Himachal Pradesh. “The people of the state should rest assured — the central government is fully backing them,” he reiterated.

BJP Distributes Relief Materials to Affected Families

During the visit, JP Nadda also oversaw the distribution of relief materials, including food and household essentials, provided by the BJP organization. He commended State BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, praising their prompt and effective coordination of relief efforts.

“It is due to the leadership of Dr. Bindal and Jairam Thakur that BJP workers swiftly mobilized to support the affected. The party, on its own, is providing separate assistance and will continue to stand firmly with the people,” Nadda said, noting that relief materials are pouring in from across the state.

He was accompanied by several key BJP leaders including Jairam Thakur, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, MLAs Anil Sharma, Vinod Kumar, and Daleep Thakur.
