Una: ₹60 Lakh Theft Reported from Sultan Stone Crusher Unit, Three Booked Including Manager
Una, July 8:
A major theft has been reported from the Sultan Stone Crusher unit located in Kutharbeat village under Haroli police station in Una district. The unit’s owner, Rajan Sharma, has filed a complaint against three individuals for the alleged theft of material worth ₹45 lakh, ₹15 lakh in cash, and the DVR containing CCTV footage — totalling a loss of ₹60 lakh.
According to Sharma, he purchased the crusher unit in 2021 and had appointed Nishan Singh, a resident of Vaghayadi Gidri in Taran Taran district, Punjab, as the unit’s manager. Two other Punjab residents — Harpal Singh, son of Satwant Singh, and Harpal Singh, son of Charan Singh — were also employed at the unit.
Sharma has alleged that Nishan Singh had full access to the billing ID and password of the unit. He allegedly exploited this access to generate fake bills and, with the help of the two employees, started illegally transporting material out of the unit in vehicles belonging to his relatives. The fraud came to light when Sharma reviewed CCTV footage and cross-checked vehicle logs, revealing the theft of material worth around ₹45 lakh.
According to the complaint, Nishan Singh partially admitted to the wrongdoing during questioning and deposited ₹7.34 lakh across multiple accounts, promising to return the remaining amount by July 5. However, that night he stayed at the office and allegedly fled the next morning with ₹15 lakh in cash and the CCTV DVR.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Bhatia confirmed that an FIR has been registered against all three accused and the investigation is underway. Further action will be taken soon, he added.
