Chamba, July 6:
Nature unleashed its fury once again in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, as a cloudburst over the Bagheigarh stream on the Nakrod-Chanju road in Churah subdivision caused extensive destruction. The powerful surge of water swept away a key bridge, cutting off road connectivity to four panchayats—Charra, Chanju, Dehra, and Bagheigarh.

According to local residents, the water level in the stream rose dramatically overnight. Within moments, the bridge was engulfed by the raging current. The sudden loss of connectivity has left these remote villages completely cut off from the rest of the region. Damaged roads have made vehicular movement impossible, delaying access to emergency services.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. However, fear and uncertainty loom large, with villagers moving toward safer areas on their own. Residents have been trying to reach the local administration, urging immediate relief and rescue operations.

Locals have appealed to the authorities to take swift and decisive action in light of the situation. They’ve stressed the need to establish alternative routes to restore access and ensure the delivery of essential supplies and aid.

Amid this crisis, the community has come together, offering mutual support and praying for everyone’s safety. What the affected villages now need most is rapid administrative intervention and ground-level action.
