Mandi, July 6:
Actor and BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, visited disaster-affected regions of the Seraj Assembly constituency on Saturday to assess the devastation caused by recent natural calamities. She was accompanied by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur during the visit.

Kangana toured the damaged areas of Thunag Bazaar, met with affected residents, and listened to their concerns. Speaking to the media, she said the scale of destruction in Seraj was heartbreaking. “People have been left with nothing. They look at their ruined homes with despair. It’s a deeply distressing sight that shakes one to the core. These people need our collective support now more than ever,” she said.

Kangana announced that she would urge the Central Government to release a special relief package for the affected people and push for their proper rehabilitation and resettlement. She also criticized the state government, accusing it of corruption and mishandling of previous relief funds.

“This is a corrupt government. In the past, too, when the Centre sent thousands of crores in aid, the state government misused it. Even now, any relief from the Centre risks being blocked before reaching those who need it. A new mechanism must be found to ensure aid directly benefits the victims,” she asserted.

Political Storm Over Kangana’s Visit

Kangana’s absence in the initial days following the disaster had sparked criticism and political chatter. Many questioned why the local MP had not yet visited the affected areas. As public pressure mounted, Kangana addressed the concerns through social media, clarifying her position.

With her visit to ground zero, Kangana has now reassured the public of her commitment and promised all possible support from the Central Government to the victims. Her presence aims to restore confidence among the affected communities and counter the political narratives surrounding her earlier absence.
