Mandi, July 5:
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has said that the state government is making continuous efforts to restore electricity and water supply in the flood-affected areas of Mandi district. Speaking informally to the media after inspecting the disaster-hit regions in Pandoh on Thursday evening, he announced that the restoration work will be expedited through an offline tendering process to ensure immediate relief.

Agnihotri informed that special provisions have been made for the revival of major drinking water schemes, and officers from outside the district have also been deployed. In case of shortage of pipelines, local procurement has been permitted. He highlighted that the main drinking water supply scheme worth ₹121 crore in the Seraj region has suffered severe damage. So far, the Jal Shakti Department has incurred losses of ₹100 crore in Mandi alone, while estimated damages across the state exceed ₹300 crore.

The Deputy CM further stated that, considering the complete disconnection of the Seraj region due to landslides and floods, ropeway transport—for both passengers and goods—has been made entirely free for the next 7 to 10 days. With roads cut off, the ropeway has become the only lifeline for the region. Clear instructions have been issued to ropeway corporation officials to ensure no charges are levied during this period in the interest of public welfare.
