Cloudbursts Cause Widespread Damage in Himachal’s Rampur Region; Several Livestock Swept Away

Shimla, June 30:
Two separate cloudburst incidents were reported on Monday in the Sarpara and Ganvi panchayats of Rampur subdivision, resulting in significant damage. Fortunately, no loss of human life has been reported.
Damage in Sarpara Panchayat:
In Sikaseri village of Sarpara Panchayat, a sudden flash flood swept away an entire room, kitchen, store, and cowshed belonging to Rajendra Kumar, son of Palas Ram. His cow and two calves were also lost in the floodwaters. The cowsheds of Vinod Kumar and Gopal Singh, residents of the same village, were also washed away, each losing one cow. The floodwaters eventually flowed into the Sutlej River via the Samej Khad. Authorities have categorized the incident as a localized cloudburst.
Damage in Ganvi Panchayat:
In a separate incident, a cloudburst occurred in the Pashgaon Kanda area of Ganvi Panchayat under Rampur Tehsil, where 35 goats were swept away by the sudden surge of water. The affected livestock owners include Ramlok, Roop Singh, Gopal Negi, Devendra Singh, Prakash Verma, and Hari Singh Sanel.
The administration has begun assessing the extent of the damage and has initiated the process of providing relief to those affected.
DC Issues Advisory:
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has issued an advisory in view of the ongoing monsoon. He urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather, stay away from rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas, consume clean drinking water, and exercise extreme caution while driving. In case of any emergency, people are advised to contact the toll-free numbers 1077 or 108 immediately.
