Heavy Rain Alert in Himachal Pradesh Until July 3; Orange Warning Issued for June 29

Shimla, June 27:
Monsoon rains continue to disrupt normal life in Himachal Pradesh, with the state witnessing heavy downpours in the past 24 hours. As per data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre by 6 PM on Friday, Pandoh in Mandi district recorded 139 mm of rainfall, while Jogindernagar saw 73 mm.

The impact has been widespread: 53 roads are currently blocked across the state, 135 power transformers are non-functional, and 147 drinking water schemes have come to a halt—leaving thousands affected.

Kullu and Mandi Among the Worst-Hit

Kullu district has reported the highest damage, with 23 roads blocked. Power and water supply in Nirmand and Anni sub-divisions are severely affected, with 74 transformers and 118 water supply schemes currently down. In Mandi, 16 roads are shut and 59 transformers are non-functional.

Disruptions in Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, and Chamba

In Lahaul-Spiti, one road and one transformer are out of operation. Kinnaur is facing interruptions in 33 water supply schemes. In Chamba, three water schemes are non-operational and one distribution transformer in Taisa sub-division is down.

Partial Disruptions in Shimla, Una, and Sirmaur

In Shimla’s Rampur sub-division, two water supply schemes have been affected. Some roads in Una remain inaccessible, with traffic being diverted through alternative routes. Three roads have been reported closed in the Shillai region of Sirmaur district.

No Major Impact in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Solan

These districts have reported relatively stable conditions, with no significant road closures or disruptions in power and water supply so far.

Weather Forecast and Advisory

The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of continued heavy rainfall across the state until July 3. An Orange Alert has been declared for June 29, with warnings of possible flash floods, particularly in Shimla and Sirmaur districts. Authorities have urged residents and tourists to stay away from rivers and streams and to remain vigilant during this period.
