Dharamshala, June 26:
Search and rescue operations continued for the second consecutive day in the Manuni Khad near Khaniyara in Dharamshala, where several workers were swept away during a flash flood. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively engaged in the effort.

So far, three bodies have been recovered, and one worker has been rescued safely. The operation is being personally overseen by NDRF Commandant Baljinder Singh at the site.

Rescue efforts were temporarily disrupted on Wednesday due to intermittent rainfall, but resumed promptly once the weather cleared. The joint NDRF-SDRF team continues to search for the five workers still missing.

Kangra Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri confirmed the identities of the deceased workers as:

  • Chain Singh (20), son of Mulkh Raj, resident of Kumdi village, Doda district (J&K)

  • Aditya Thakur, son of Shiv Kumar, resident of Rakh village, Chamba district

  • Pradeep Verma (35), son of Ram Kant Verma, resident of Sohanpur, Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh

The rescued worker has been identified as Lavelee, son of Surma Ram, from Pune district. His condition is said to be stable.

Despite these developments, five workers remain unaccounted for. While their names have not yet been made public, authorities confirmed that identification is in progress and search efforts are continuing at full pace.
