Una, June 20:
A wave of concern has swept through political and administrative circles in Himachal Pradesh after Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Gagret MLA Rakesh Kalia received death threats on social media. The threats were made via comments on a Facebook post, prompting police to register a case against an unidentified individual.

The issue came to light when Harkoli Youth Congress President Shubham Joshi submitted a formal complaint at the Haroli police station on Thursday, including screenshots of the exchange. The complaint cites that a Facebook user named Sharp Shooter Nabahi Wala posted about the arrest of one Amrish Rana by Gagret police. In the comments, another user mentioned that “the public is once again demanding the sword,” to which Sharp Shooter Nabahi Wala responded, “This time it will be used on a politician.” When another user asked, “For what crime?” the reply was, “Ask the Deputy CM and Kalia.”

The threatening remarks have sparked strong reactions across political quarters, raising serious concerns about the security of public representatives. Following the complaint, Una police have registered a case under IPC Section 506 and relevant sections of the IT Act against the unidentified accused.

ASP Una, Sanjeev Bhatia, confirmed the incident and stated that a formal FIR has been lodged. “We are tracing the origin of the threatening and offensive comments with the help of IT experts. The identity of the person behind the account will be established soon, and strict action will be taken,” he added.

The matter continues to be under active investigation.
