Shimla, June 16:
The Central Government’s Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) is now being implemented in Himachal Pradesh for officers of All India Services (AIS), including IAS, IPS, and IFS. The state government issued an official notification on Monday, allowing eligible officers to opt for this new pension model.

Under the scheme, officers who are in service as of April 1, 2025, and currently under the National Pension System (NPS), will be given the option to switch to UPS.

The move follows instructions from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, which had directed all states to implement the UPS for AIS officers. In parallel, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has also notified the necessary operational guidelines to govern the scheme.

Interested officers must submit Form A2 in three copies to their respective Head of Office. Once verified, the applications will be forwarded to the District Treasury Officer. After final approval and registration, the application will be sent to the State Nodal Agency, headquartered at the SDA Complex, Kasumpti, Shimla.
