Shimla, June 13:
After enduring intense heat for nearly a week, residents and tourists in Himachal Pradesh finally got some relief as the weather took a pleasant turn on Friday. Unexpected rainfall in Shimla and several other districts brought down temperatures slightly, offering a much-needed break from the sweltering conditions. The showers brought smiles to the faces of locals and visitors alike, many of whom had been struggling to cope with the oppressive heat.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, there is a forecast of light rain and hail in various parts of the state over the next two days. From June 16 to 21, Himachal is likely to experience more widespread and heavier rainfall due to an approaching active western disturbance.
Shimla had been witnessing above-normal temperatures over the past few days, but Friday’s rain turned the weather pleasant. However, heatwave warnings remain in effect for Una, Kullu, and Mandi districts for the next two days, although intermittent showers may offer temporary relief.
Meteorologist Shobhit Katiyar stated that light rain and hail are likely in some districts over the next 48 hours. He added that a strong western disturbance is expected to affect the state starting June 16, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh through June 21.
