Over 100 Buses Fined in a Single Night Between Mandi and Pandoh; ₹2.72 Lakh Collected in Penalties

In a major overnight crackdown, the RTO Flying Squad from Kullu penalized over 100 Volvo, tourist, and passenger buses during a traffic blockade between Mandi and Pandoh, collecting ₹2.72 lakh in fines. The operation, which began at Vindravani and continued at Pandoh, focused on checking vehicle documents and inspecting passenger safety measures.
Traffic Inspector Hemant Sharma said the checks were carried out throughout the night, during which numerous violations were found. Some vehicles were operating without valid permits, others lacked high-security number plates, while several had illegal pressure horns or modified lights. A number of buses were also found without valid tax payments or pollution certificates.
Challans were issued to nearly 100 vehicles, and fines were collected on the spot from many. Those who did not pay immediately have been instructed to settle their dues at the RTO office. Inspector Sharma emphasized that violations of transport regulations will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He added that such checks are conducted regularly, especially during the tourist season, to ensure the safety of travelers. The department plans to continue and intensify these operations to maintain compliance and protect public safety.
