Solan, June 10:
Solan police have made a breakthrough in the recent theft of government property, arresting four accused from Tipra, Haryana in connection with the theft of pipes worth approximately ₹3 lakh. The arrests were made by the Sadar Police Station team after a thorough investigation using technical evidence and CCTV footage analysis.

According to police, on June 7, Bhupinder Thakur, a government contractor with the IPH (Irrigation and Public Health) Department, lodged a complaint stating that around a month ago, he was assigned departmental work. On May 23, he had transported 183 pipes, each 150 mm in diameter, from Hisar, Haryana to Solan. Of these, 51 pipes were unloaded near the roadside and ground area adjacent to the IPH store in Jatoli.

On June 6, the store’s watchman informed Bhupinder that some of the pipes stored near the roadside had gone missing. Upon inspection, Bhupinder discovered that 20 pipes, valued at around ₹3 lakh, had been stolen. Acting promptly, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.

During the inquiry, investigators reviewed CCTV footage and other digital clues to identify the suspects. Acting on this evidence, the police arrested four individuals from Tipra, Haryana on June 10.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Kailash Chand (46), resident of Kullu

  • Mushtaq Mohammad alias Sonu (40), resident of Solan

  • Ved Prakash alias Titu (45), resident of Shimla

  • Anup Kumar (41), resident of Sirmaur

All four were produced in court on June 10. Police are also checking their criminal backgrounds. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen pipes, and further investigation is ongoing.

This swift action by Solan police is expected to serve as a deterrent to future thefts and bring some reassurance to the local community.
