Shimla, June 6: In view of the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the country, the Union Ministry of Health has issued an advisory to all states and union territories, urging them to remain vigilant and enhance preparedness. Responding promptly, the Himachal Pradesh government has stepped up preventive measures and placed its healthcare system on alert.
State Health Minister Col. Dr. Dhani Ram Shandil stated that Himachal currently has only two active COVID-19 cases, both of whom have now fully recovered. He assured the public that while the situation remains completely under control, the state is not taking any chances.
As per the central advisory, emphasis has been placed on home isolation for COVID-positive individuals and strict adherence to safety protocols such as mask usage and social distancing. The Health Minister confirmed that all government hospitals in the state are now equipped with adequate medical staff, sufficient beds, essential medicines, and oxygen supply.
Dr. Shandil also shared that he personally inspected the preparedness at key hospitals, including IGMC in Shimla and the Zonal Hospital in Solan. He emphasized that the state is fully prepared to respond swiftly and effectively should there be a rise in cases in the future.
The Minister urged residents to refrain from spreading or believing in rumors and to rely only on official sources for updates. He also appealed to the public to avoid crowded places when possible, and to wear masks and maintain proper hygiene if stepping out is necessary.
