SP’s Role Under Scrutiny in Vimal Negi Case – Why Is Sanjeev Gandhi So Deeply Involved?
Rajendra Negi during the press conference
Shimla, June 4:
Questions continue to mount over the role of Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi in the suspicious death case of HPPCL Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. The Vimal Negi Tribal Justice Forum has expressed serious concerns regarding the conduct of the Shimla SP, questioning under whose direction he approached the High Court. They have raised a critical point—why is SP Sanjeev Gandhi still taking such a keen interest in the matter even after it has been handed over to the CBI? Who is driving this involvement?
During a press conference in Shimla, Vimal Negi’s maternal uncle Rajendra Negi stated that the SP appeared to be working under external pressure from the very beginning. He alleged a clear lack of transparency in the police investigation. Despite an FIR being filed, the Shimla police failed to take any concrete action.
He further claimed that the SP seemed intent on steering the investigation in a particular direction. Even when public sentiment across the state overwhelmingly demanded a CBI probe, the report submitted by the Shimla SP allegedly served to suppress the truth. The Forum questioned why a district police chief was showing such unusual “interest” in the case while the government remained largely silent.
The Forum reiterated that only a CBI investigation can ensure a fair and impartial inquiry. They urged the government not to obstruct the process but rather to cooperate fully with the central agency to deliver justice.
