Shimla, May 25:
The Himachal Pradesh Secretariat in Shimla has once again received a bomb threat, triggering a full-scale security operation on Sunday. The email, sent to the office of the Chief Secretary, claimed the state’s highest administrative building would be blown up. The Secretariat houses the offices of the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, top bureaucrats, and other key officials, making it the nerve centre of the state government’s functioning.

Though Sunday was a holiday and most officials and staff were not present, security agencies swiftly responded. Bomb disposal squads and dog units were immediately deployed, conducting a thorough search of the entire building, including the offices of the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary.

Despite an intensive search, no suspicious item or explosive material was found.

Police and intelligence agencies are now investigating the source of the threat. Cyber experts are working to trace the location and origin of the email. Officials confirmed that the threat is being taken very seriously, and all angles are being examined.

This is not the first time such a threat has been issued. Just a month ago, in April, a similar bomb threat was received targeting the Secretariat. That incident also prompted a large-scale search, which turned up nothing.

Notably, in recent weeks, several government buildings across other districts in Himachal Pradesh have also received similar threats. Although no explosives have been found in any of the cases so far, security agencies are treating each incident with full seriousness and following standard operating procedures for investigation.

Bomb squads, dog squads, the special branch, and cyber cell units remain on high alert across the state.
