Baddi, May 23:
In a significant crackdown, a joint team from the police and revenue departments on Thursday cleared illegal encroachment on government land by the family of an accused drug trafficker. The move is being seen as a firm step towards creating a crime-free society.

According to officials, the land had been unlawfully occupied and developed by the family of Sarvjeet Singh alias Chhimma, son of Khushi Ram, a resident of Kishanpura village, Gurumajra Post Office, Baddi Tehsil. Sarvjeet Singh is a known repeat offender, with four previous cases registered against him under the NDPS Act.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that 1 biswa (roughly 125 square meters) of government land had been encroached upon and construction carried out without permission. Acting on this, the joint team moved in, and under relevant revenue laws, the illegal structures were demolished using earth-moving machinery. Adequate police force was deployed to ensure the operation proceeded smoothly without disturbance.

Baddi Superintendent of Police Vinod Dhiman confirmed the action and said, “This drive will continue. Stern legal action will be taken against those involved in serious crimes, including violations of the NDPS Act. Properties acquired through criminal activities will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
