Shimla, May 24: Following a stern rebuke from the Himachal Pradesh High Court in the Vimal Negi case, Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi has made serious allegations against his own senior officers. Speaking to the media in Shimla, SP Gandhi claimed that the Director General of Police (DGP) submitted a false affidavit to the court and interfered unnecessarily in the investigation. He further alleged attempts to tamper with evidence, damaging the credibility of the police department.
Gandhi accused the DGP’s personal staff of being involved in leaking a confidential document related to a CID investigation. He stated that the DGP tried to manipulate the inquiry by appointing officers of his choice to the CID team and submitted misleading affidavits to the court. Referring to a past case involving a businessman named Nishant Sharma, Gandhi noted that during the tenure of then-DGP Sanjay Kundu, an affidavit was submitted in the High Court without bias.
He also alleged that junior officers were pressured into preparing false reports and that the state government was informed via an official letter about a fabricated piece of evidence. This, he claimed, was allegedly created with help from the National Security Guard (NSG) to falsely implicate certain officials in a case involving a supposed IED blast, which ultimately turned out to be false.
SP Gandhi emphasized that he has consistently kept the state government and the Advocate General informed about these matters. However, he noted, no action has been taken so far. “This isn’t just a clash between two officers—it reflects a deeper systemic conflict,” he said. “It exposes the fault lines between power, governance, and accountability.”
